The straight answer
Poly B was used in hydronic heating until the mid-1990s. In closed loops the chlorine problem largely disappears and the documented issue becomes oxygen seeping through the non-barrier pipe and corroding the boiler and pumps. Fixes exist that do not require breaking the slab.
The longer version
Different pipe duty, completely different problem. In a closed heating loop there’s no fresh chlorinated water, but era Poly B lacked an oxygen barrier, so oxygen migrates through the pipe wall and rusts boilers, pumps and every ferrous part. The recognized fixes, isolation behind a non-ferrous heat exchanger or non-ferrous components throughout, don’t require touching the slab.
